Peter Pan Syndrome. While not a true medical diagnosis, it is a term used to describe adult men that are trapped in a perpetual state of adolescence. They are socially immature and struggle to take on adult responsibilities. I’d like to add another syndrome I’ve conceptualized. Mad Max Syndrome. This term describes a man trapped in a perpetual state of survival. They are socially isolated and struggle to build meaningful relationships. They also have trouble taking on adult responsibilities. Used to chaos and struggle, they catastrophize their lives and are only comfortable when they are on the brink of destruction. Like Mad Max, John Wick of Frank Castle they are brooding loners, haunted by their past…surrounded by danger and enemies.
