Working on establishing the ministry God has called me to pursue. I’ve been thinking about why I’m so passionate about rebuilding broken men. Discipleship. The modern church fails to disciple men that are broken. Throughout scripture the need for discipleship is a constant theme. Men further ahead in their walk reaching back and lifting broken men up to a biblical standard. Training them to be Men of God. Training. Not just teaching. The modern church has largely abandoned this responsibility. There are conferences, centers, groups and communities that train women in the ways of The Lord. But these structures for broken men are few and far between. I’ve heard many women within the church say, “I was trained to be a wife”. How many men can say “I was trained to be a husband”? And many of the structures that do exist involve scriptures in the ear and a kick in the pants. This quote encapsulates my mission.
“Discipleship meant much more than just the transfer of information . . . it referred to imitating the teacher’s life, inculcating his values, and reproducing his teachings.”2 Therefore, Christian discipleship connotes a relationship with a master teacher, following them, and adhering to their way of life because their teaching shapes your own worldview. “
